What’s it all about
Welcome to my blog. I love designing and making all sorts of things crochet. So how did I start......
I was initially taught to crochet when I was young by my sister who showed me how to do the old favourite of a granny square. Once I had it down to a tee she showed me how to do it in a spiral so that I could make it as a blanket and as large as I wanted to without having to complete a row and then chain up to do the next round.
I never at that point of my life did anything other than that so soon gave up and never revisited for several years until I was pregnant with my eldest son. The old faithful skills were perfect at this new stage in my life as I could pick it up and do some more whenever I wanted to. 3 Blankets later my son was born and had something warm to be wrapped up in and to have in his cot.
I again gave up with crochet as other things became more important and my craft focus shifted once again. It was not for over 20 years did I again pick up a hook and see what I could do with it. With the rise of social media I was soon seeing all these amazing items being made and wanted to see if I could progress on from making a granny square. I found some books and magazines and had a go, however I soon found out that watching instruction videos were invaluable. Having been an avid knitter for such a long time I had been taught how to read patterns and had made many items ranging from small items to jumpers and cardigans so I had an idea that to follow a crochet pattern would use similar skills.
That was approximately 5 years ago and I have never looked back. From following patterns for small amigurumi to making blankets I can definitely say that I have become well and truly hooked! I am loving seeing where it takes me and to meet others along the way. My current style is making cute and quirky style amigurumi, some of which have been inspired by Kuwaii images. For example, some of the cacti that are one of my most recent designs have faces to give them character.
I hope you enjoy following my journey through the world of crochet as my designs and style grow and develop.
